Capture of a Rare Smoothback Angelshark Squatina oculata (Squatinidae) in Turkish 2 Waters, with Updated Records from the eastern Mediterranean Sea

چکیده

The authors report on the capture of a specimen smoothback angelshark Squatina oculata Bonaparte, 1840 from Turkish marine waters. measured 720 mm in total length and was caught by means commercial purse-seiner at depth 60 m. species appeared to be sporadically area eastern Mediterranean Sea, however, size diversity recorded specimens shows still occurred region. Although angel shark is listed as protected according Marine Fisheries Act, management plan should integrated with local fisheries preserve extirpation throughout its distribution range seas.
